JaipurCraft' NAKSHATRA ' (Star Shape) style Hand block Tealight Holder made in solid Sheesham Wood. Block printing refers to the printing technique of pressing and stamping fabric with carved wooden blocks filled with color, The usage of wooden blocks to create prints on textiles is an ancient art that originated in Japan and China which further spread to several parts of the continent of Asia, including the exotic and culturally rich land of India, before reaching the west. Hand block printers have emerged in Sanganer and Bagru villages, which are situated near Jaipur. Motifs are carefully engraved onto flat and smooth blocks of wood by skillful hands, and these blocks, once ready for Printing, are dipped in colorful hues of pigments and then pressed upon cloth to create an imprint “Hand blocked” or “hand block printing” are other terms that refer to block printing.
